Best in Poland
Taking into account all criteria, the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów was in the lead of top universities in Poland. There is no better university in Poland than UITM in terms of "research", "knowledge transfer" and "internationalization".
Unique Ranking - Students' Expectations Count
Creators of U-Multirank underline, that the principle idea of the ranking is not to decide which university is the best in the world, but to help students find a university which will fulfil their expectations. When students look for a university, they pick areas of universities activity which are of vital importance to them. They can choose among the following dimensions: teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, internationalization, and regional engagement.
The data for U-Multirank are drawn from a number of sources and provide the user with complex reliable information based on: data provided by institutions, bibliometric and patent data included in international databases, as well as student surveys filled in by 85,000 students of universities which took part in the ranking. This number constitutes the biggest sample in the world, which fact give students a unique peer perspective.
According to experts who created the project, there is no university which can be assessed as the best in every single category. Only 8% of universities received more than 10 ‘A’ grades. U-Multirank shows as well, that 50% of these universities received from 1 to 5 “A” grades in certain indicators. Therefore, it is easy to draw a conclusion that while some universities are good in many areas, most of them are very good in only a few of them.
About the Ranking
U-Multirank - the global university ranking - was implemented by the European Commission in 2013. It was prepared by the independent consortium led by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) in Germany, Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente and the Centre for Science and Technology Studies from Leiden University (CWTS). The ranking is the European response to the world rankings. It is totally different from the leading ones, such as the well-known Shanghai ranking. The ranking is not narrowed down to criteria related to research, but it also includes criteria related to quality, knowledge transfer, internationalisation or carrying out regional mission and therefore, it is different from the ones which have been available so far; it is more complex, more detailed and more transparent. One of the advantageous of the ranking is that users can decide which criteria are important to them and that users can create their own, personalised ranking. Thanks to this, the ranking is very helpful to secondary school leavers, because it makes it easier to choose a good university.
